There’s something wonderfully festive about the aroma of simmering chutneys and the satisfying pop of jars sealing as they cool. This year, our group of individuals have been busy turning fresh Welsh produce into colourful jars of Christmas joy for our local fairs.
Working together in the kitchen has become one of our favourite seasonal traditions. We chop onions and red cabbage, measure out spices, and share stories whilst working. Making pickles brings out everyone’s creativity too—some love bold flavours with mustard seeds and chilli, while others prefer classic vinegar tang and crunchy vegetables. Each jar is different, but every one is made with patience, teamwork, and plenty of laughter.
These sessions aren’t just about cooking; they’re about confidence, connection, and celebrating each person’s strengths. Watching everyone proudly label their jars, ready for the Christmas fair, reminds us how meaningful simple activities can be.
If you’re visiting the fair, look out for our stall full of homemade pickles. They make perfect gifts—and every purchase supports opportunities for our amazing individuals!
Here’s to good food, good company, and a very merry Christmas!
