Upon arrival
Reception
The spacious, well-lit reception area is situated directly in front of the main double automatic glass door entryway on the ground floor. Two comfortable leather sofas are also available should you wish to take the weight off your feet.
Public Areas
All public areas throughout the hotel are situated on the ground floor. A ramp offers an alternative route to access the lounge, avoiding the 2 steps otherwise. All flooring is hard surface (slate and wood) with the exception of the carpeted lounge and the back corridor which leads to the Sensory Room, Secure Bike Storage, Radio Room and Offices.
The lounge area has seating in the front bay window overlooking the Dwyryd Estuary and mountain range and a couple of window seats overlooking the side garden. To the back of the lounge area we have a few tables and chairs with arm rests and a pool table in the middle area for guests’ use.
The carpeted main staircase has a battery operated stairlift, however most guests with mobility needs tend to use the dedicated lift taking them directly to the first-floor bedrooms.
The upper floor bedrooms are accessed via a staircase and are not suitable for wheelchair users nor guests with mobility needs.
The first-floor corridor is well lit and carpeted whilst the bedrooms on the first floor all have hard floor surfaces. Rooms 4, 8, 9 and 10 do have steps either in the access corridor or within the bedroom itself.
Doorways for the suitable bedrooms are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs.
Our fully accessible public convenience facilities are located on the Hotel’s ground floor not far from the reception area and are fitted with appropriate grip rails and emergency alarm cord. The facilities are available for public use if required. We also have a general use toilet facility – both are for all sexes and are situated near the bar at the end of the corridor.
Dining facilities with high backed dining chairs are available both in the breakfast room and lounge bar – waiter service is available in both areas. Some lighting can be subdued for a more atmospheric ambience if required and all public rooms are front facing with large windows to make the most of the natural landscape views.
Low, ambient, background music is played in the public areas with independent volume control panels in some rooms.
A hearing ‘loop’ service has been installed throughout the hotel’s public areas to address auditory requirements.
We can support a range of dietary needs which includes dysphasia.
Accommodation
A wide variety of accessibility needs are available in several of our en-suite bedrooms up to and including 2 very spacious rooms containing profiling beds and large wet rooms, with fixed or mobile hoists and plenty of space for wheelchair use or specialist equipment to assist accessibility.
Rooms include subtle considerations such as low-profile showers in the ‘en-suite’ bathrooms, however you are recommended to view the photographs taken from various directions per room to best showcase the rooms’ layout and accessibility.
Due to the age and nature of the building, there are physical limitations which make some bedrooms unsuitable for wheelchair users and guests with significant mobility needs. These include 2 rooms on the first floor which have steps within the room – rooms 4 and 8. Corridor access to rooms 9 and 10 is via several steps down to access them. There are a further 3 rooms (rooms 11-13) on the second floor which are only accessible via a flight of stairs.
Phones are available in each room linked to the main reception. Dialling 300 from the bedroom phone will take you to the reception desk.
We have a ‘sleep in’ service from within the hotel staff to respond to your needs.
The fire alarm is checked on a weekly basis and the bells ring continuously for both this and a true emergency. Assistance will be given if evacuation is necessary. Please let us know upon arrival should you require assistance with this. A door hanger will be hung on the outside confirming your need for assistance in the event of an emergency evacuation. Our core staff have been trained in specialist emergency evacuation mattress (ski pad) techniques as part of their Fire Marshal Training.
Should you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact the Hotel for advice.
