The first-floor bedrooms are accessed via a dedicated lift or alternatively via the main staircase which also has a battery-operated stair lift for ease of use.
The corridors and stairs are carpeted flooring and are light and bright, with simple decoration. On the landing by the lift is an open seating area overlooking the back of the hotel where we have a small library selection of books for guests’ use. Fire exits are in accordance with fire safety regulations (for both floors) and are located around the side and at the back of the building.
The second-floor bedrooms which we lovingly refer to as the Penthouse are accessed via a staircase of 12 steps.
Most rooms have stunning views across the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountain range, whilst others have views over the garden which has been left to naturalise to encourage wildlife.
All rooms have been recently redecorated taking inspiration from the natural landscape for a soothing, cohesive colour palette and sumptuous soft furnishings offering unsurpassed comfort and tranquillity. Most bedrooms have overhead recessed lighting and table lamps which are controlled by wall switches having placed the keycard in the activation slot upon entry. All bedrooms have hard flooring for ease of movement, cleaning and to reduce allergy symptoms. As befitting an older house, each bedroom has its own shapes and quirks, and therefore no two rooms are exactly the same.
Our bedrooms have both numbers on the doors but also a room name designed on local slate, having taken inspiration from the names of the historical local slate quarries. Corresponding room numbers/names are noted on key card wallets.
On arrival you will be offered a tour of the ground floor facilities before being shown to your room. All bedrooms have been dressed with various photographs taken by a keen photographer, walker, mountaineer and biker from amongst our staff paying homage to the rich heritage of the slate industry legacy.
